About
Opportunator is a directory of opportunities with application deadlines — grants, hackathons, accelerator intakes, competitions, cloud and AI credit programs, fellowships — for people building things. It exists because these are scattered across a hundred sites and the only thing that matters about them, the closing date, is the thing nobody puts in one place.
It’s built and run by Tai, working solo. The collecting and checking is done by software: a set of collectors reads public listing pages and feeds, and a listing goes live only after an automated check against the organiser’s own page confirms the link resolves, the page still describes the listing, and the deadline is still ahead. A nightly job re-runs those checks for as long as it stays listed. Anything the checks can’t decide waits for a person — and nothing ambiguous is ever thrown away by a machine.
What the verified badge means
It means we fetched the organiser’s page on that date and the link resolved with the deadline still in the future. It is not a promise that every detail is right — organisers move deadlines, close early, and change amounts without updating their own pages. Always confirm on the organiser’s site before you rely on anything here. Where our date is not a hard cut-off — an event start, a cohort start — the listing says so.
When we get it wrong
We will, and we’d rather know. Email hello@opportunator.com and we’ll correct or remove a listing. That goes double if you run a programme we’ve listed: every listing links straight to you, but if you’d rather not be here, say so and you won’t be.
How it makes money
It doesn’t, yet. The directory is free and there are no ads. If that changes it will be through clearly-marked sponsored placements and an optional paid alerts tier — never by charging for the listings themselves, and never by selling your email address.
